The esteemed Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed only five courses in Thailand, and Eastern Star Country Club & Resort is one of them. Located in Pattaya, near the Gulf of Thailand, and only slightly above sea level, this links-style 530-acre course boasts the Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature: wide and undulating fairways, thousands of palm trees and some mango trees, numerous dog legs, 11 lakes and 65 bunkers. Since opening its doors for business in 1992, it has played host to several local and regional golf tournaments, mainly thanks to the challenges the course pose to both beginners and experienced golfers. Many fall prey to the signature hole on par 3 thirteenth, where the golfers are lulled into admiring the picturesque scenery. Indeed, the moniker “thinking man’s course” for this Pattaya golf course is not too far off the mark. Aside from the driving range and practice area, the golf resort also boasts a well-equipped clubhouse, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, and a restaurant, among others. Golfers and non-golfers alike often find themselves simply lying back and enjoying the cool breeze blowing in from the sea, which is just 2 kilometers away.
