Gold Canyon golf course, situated an hour outside Chiang Mai, is a rural course with lots of wilderness surrounding it; canyons, orchards and woodlands. This idyllic scenery is very relaxing and beautiful not too far from Lamphun. The course has an unusual design seen on the whole course: it is wide and open and has few bunkers and water hazards. Players will find trees to be the biggest hazard as some can be found obstructing six holes. To get over this, players have to either hit above the trees or between the branches a fete that will prove challenging when the branches get thicker. The course covers 7,300 yards, is relatively flat except for the long, hilly walk from the green to the tee. More experienced golfers find the front nine simple but when it comes to the holes in the back nine, the grass is thick. It also has a few water hazards and is the most preferred of the two nines. Chiang Mai has different amenities designed to meet the basic needs of its golfers. For golfers who are looking for an uneven, one of a kind terrain, Gold Canyon Golf Club is the course to go to.
