Located near Bangkok city center, Lakewood Golf Club is a fairly flat golf course enclosed with more than 2000 trees and 45 plant species. Lakewood has 4 nines; three of them i.e. Lake, Wood and Rock, have subtle doglegs, somewhat rolling greens and water. The best nines are the new ones and all players should play these holes. The course has good drainage all year round, wide fairways and well-maintained Bermuda grass. Play is lengthened during the rainy season by the spongy fairways and also due to the prevailing wind which obstructs your face and is most noticeable on the longer holes. The rains also make the Bermuda rough thicker forcing players to use a lofted club in order to return to the fairway. The 7th hole on the Wood has a water hazard running across and calls for a left tee shot to dodge the hazard. The long-serving caddies are well trained and are able to help players read the greens easily. Charges at Lakewood Golf Club are a little on the higher side because of the course's nearness to the city center and the Suvarnabhumi airport. It is also popular among expatriates who also lead to the higher costs.
