Royal Lakeside Golf Club was opened in 1993 and renovated in 2011 is found at the mouth of the Bangpakong River which features on a number of holes. Water is a frequently occuring feature on this course as some holes lie next to the river and others run along the wide lagoon that goes around the course. The course is cooled by breezes from the river. Royal has beautiful surroundings and a private marina for yachts to dock. The new undulated greens run fast and true. The fairways are well-maintained but this is not the case for some bunkers and waste areas which need to be taken better care of. The wind from the sea influences the game. The wide fairways enhance the openness of the course. The light semi-rough simplifies finding balls. Approach shots are tricky due to the earth mounding fairways and around the greens. There are many trees, flowers, shrubs and a few streams making the course resemble a garden. Waste bunkers need to be avoided especially on the par-3s. A lighthouse marks the entrance to the marina on the 9th hole. The clubhouse topped with a dome is visible from the par-4 5th. The clubhouse has lockers, showers and two restaurants. The staff, although efficient understand little English.
