When Siam Country Club was built in Pattaya in 1971, it was the first ever privately-owned golf course in Thailand. 35 years later, Siam Country Club remains to be one of the top golf courses in the country, hosting a number of international golf tournaments, most notable of which are the 2008 and the 2010 Honda LPGA Classics. Designed by Isao Mazumi, the layout of the Old Course is unique and unmistakable once you see the abundance of sculptured bushes and hedges in and around it. Many of the course’s 18 holes are strategically smattered around a series of lakes and creeks, long, narrow fairways, and a variety of trees. A large Golden Buddha also looms from its majestic perch overlooking the green up the 9th fairway. Ask the most avid golfers and they would immediately point out that the 15th through the 18th holes at the Old Course are the best finishing holes in any golf course found in the Pattaya area. It is impeccably maintained, which easily negates any doubts as to why it is one of the best golf courses in the country.
